The degassing or venting of tanks—for example, on inland waterway vessels—releases a wide variety of gases into the atmosphere without treatment. Vapors from gasoline, diesel, crude oil, and other hydrocarbons such as benzene, ethanol, acetone, or methanol cause long-term damage to the climate. In the meantime therefore, law requires that these vapors be treated.
The flameless FLOX® oxidation is the ideal treatment. Far more than 99% of the gases are converted to CO2 and water and other harmless gases resp. dust. While the CO2 is also a greenhouse gas, it is by far many more times less potent than the untreated vapors.
Our plant for the degassing of tank barges consists of two containers:
The small 10ft container is located directly on the dockside. A hose is connected to the tank filler neck of the barge. The explosion-proof blower draws the vapors from the tank and pushes them through a pipe to the large container.
The large 30ft container can be placed on a trailer. The combustor oxidizes the sucked vapors via the FLOX process. Since the concentration of the vapors decreases with time and thus their flammability, natural gas or propane is added in controlled amounts to ensure a stable oxidization process.
Our plants cover a range from 10 to 5.000 Nm3/h. Thanks to the integrated recuperative burners with the air preheating, energy consumption is reduced by up to 50% compared to direct-fired systems. And it produces virtually no emissions when compared to a flare.
